Ric's Background

Born and raised in a small Midwestern town, Ric learned the basic values of hard work, honesty, and perseverance. These attributes proved essential when he left Wisconsin to attend the United States Military Academy, at the age of 17.

At West Point, Ric forged these bedrock values and began a lifetime of service to the nation. Following graduation, Ric completed some of the most challenging military training in the world, including the US Army Airborne and US Army Ranger courses. Following this training he continued his leadership development serving as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and other staff assignments. Ric completed his service obligation after five years of active duty, married Debbi, joined the US Army Reserve and began a career in real estate.

Through the years, Ric has been self-employed, worked for a small family business and for large publicly traded companies. He has built homes, developed residential communities, and personally bought and sold both residential and commercial investment property in Kentucky, Wisconsin, North and South Carolina. Ric has been a leader in every organization with which he has worked.

While working and raising a family, Ric continues his Army Reserve career by serving as a staff officer at the United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany; and as the State Coordinator for West Point admissions in both North and South Carolina.

Ric and Debbi have been married for seventeen years, and have four children. Ric and his family are also members of St. Matthew Catholic Church and he is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ric was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2006, where he proudly continues to serve.
